About Our Company

A Family Demolition Company With Full Size Equipment.

Dirt Cheap is a family owned demolition company working out of a shop on Edmund Highway in West Columbia, with our own crew on the machines every day. The equipment is the real thing: full size CASE excavators, dozers and a tri axle Kenworth dump truck. That is what it takes to drop a two story house, a burnt shell or an old strip mall and leave the lot clean. The same machines handle dirt work, land clearing and septic installs, so one call covers the whole site.

Storm drain repair for apartment complex fixed twice, both required a large excavation. Did both jobs quickly and for a great price. Would highly recommend.

Awesome Company. Contracted them to demolish a double wide on my property. They did it quickly and cleaned up great. Even brought in fill to level the area out. Marked the septic system as required.

I had an emergency involving my mobile home, not only was it after hours when they made the decision to come help me. The next morning they showed up and went above and beyond their call of duty as far as the job I hired them to do. Great people, fantastic work!

Demolition Contractor

What should you look for in a demolition contractor?

Look at the equipment first. Plenty of crews around Columbia will bid a teardown with a mini excavator and a rented dumpster. A real demolition contractor shows up with machines rated for the building in front of them. Our CASE excavators take down houses, mobile homes and double wides in hours, and they have brought down churches, strip malls and condemned buildings for towns and counties. The debris goes straight into our own dump trailers as the structure comes apart. You are not waiting a week for someone else's roll off.

Then look at what happens after the building is down. A teardown is not finished at the slab. We break out and load the concrete, pull the footings, and fill and grade the hole so the lot drains right. If the ground needs more, the crew stays on it: brush and tree clearing for the rest of the parcel, pad grading for the next build, trenching and storm drain digs, even a full septic system where sewer does not reach. Finish trades are covered too, with gravel drives and concrete flatwork.

And look for a local outfit that picks up when you call. We are family and woman owned, based on the Lexington County side of the river, and we work about a 50 mile circle around the shop. That keeps us in Columbia, Lexington, Cayce, Irmo and the towns between, with room to reach Sumter, Aiken, Orangeburg and Camden. Estimates are free, written, and priced from the property, not from a phone script.

Why Choose Dirt Cheap

Why Midlands Property Owners Call Us

Real Demolition Equipment

Full size CASE excavators, dozers and a tri axle Kenworth dump truck. Machines sized for two story houses, commercial buildings and whole lots. A mini excavator crew cannot do this work.

Teardown to Finished Site

One contractor takes the structure down, clears the lot, brings in fill, grades it flat and can finish with gravel, concrete or a septic system. No handoffs between companies, no waiting on a second crew.

Debris Leaves With Us

Hauling off the mess is part of the job, on our own trucks. The site gets cleaned as the teardown happens, so when the machines load up and leave, the lot is done.

West Columbia Is Home

The shop sits on Edmund Highway, so Columbia, Lexington and Cayce are minutes away. Family and woman owned. Call and you talk to our office, not a call center.

FAQ

Questions We Hear Most

The questions Midlands property owners ask us most. If yours is not here, call and ask. The estimate and the answer are both free.

Call (803) 796-4727

What areas do you serve?
We work about a 50 mile circle around our shop on Edmund Highway in West Columbia. That covers Columbia, Lexington, Cayce, Irmo and Blythewood, and reaches out to Sumter, Aiken, Orangeburg, Newberry and Camden. For larger demolition projects we take jobs across South Carolina. If you are not sure you are in range, call and ask.
What does demolition cost in the Columbia area?
Price follows the building and the site. Size, construction type, how close other structures sit, and how much debris has to leave all move the number. A small shed and a two story brick commercial building are different jobs. We look at the property, then give you a written number. Estimates are free, and the price we quote is the price for the work we agreed on.
Who hauls off the debris?
We do. Debris leaves on our own trucks as part of the job. Our tri axle dump truck and trailers are part of the crew, so the site gets cleaned as the teardown happens instead of waiting on a third party. When we leave, you have clean ground, not a pile.
Do I need a permit to tear down a house?
Most cities and counties around the Midlands require a demolition permit before a structure comes down. The paperwork differs between the city of Columbia, West Columbia, Lexington County and the outlying counties. We walk you through what your address needs and do the teardown to the approved permit.
What equipment do you run?
Full size CASE excavators, dozers and a tri axle Kenworth dump truck with trailers. That is real demolition equipment, sized for two story houses, commercial buildings and full lots. It is the difference between a demolition contractor and a landscaping crew with a mini excavator.
Can you handle the whole site, not just the teardown?
Yes. The same crew that takes the structure down can clear the rest of the lot, bring in fill, grade the ground flat and finish with gravel or concrete. Septic installs are on the menu too. One contractor from teardown to finished site keeps the schedule and the price simple.
