Residential Demolition
We tear down houses, mobile homes, and double wides across the Midlands. Full size excavators and dozers do the work, and the lot is left graded and clean. Free estimates from our West Columbia shop.
A driveway that holds water will not last a wet winter. Ruts fill, the edges wash, and every rain makes it worse. We repair driveways in West Columbia and across the Midlands. Some are eighty feet off a county road, others a quarter mile back to a home site. The fix starts the same way on both, with the high ridges cut down, the ruts filled, and a crown shaped so water runs to the sides instead of down the middle.
Dirt Cheap is a family run business working out of a shop on Edmund Highway in West Columbia. Our crew runs the equipment and is on job sites daily, and a real person picks up the office phone. We work a fifty mile circle around Columbia, which reaches out to Newberry and Camden. Our machines are full size excavators and dozers, sized for a long farm lane as much as a short drive. Estimates are free, so call (803) 796-4727 and we will come look at the drive.
Tell us about the structure, lot or job and we will get right back to you.
We come out and look at the ground before anything gets priced. We check where water runs, how deep the ruts go, and where the drive meets the road. If the path is grown up, pushing a lane through standing timber and brush comes first. Then the dozer cuts the high ridges between the ruts and pulls that material back into the low spots where it belongs. Potholes and soft spots get cut out to firm ground and packed back in layers.
Then we shape a crown, a slight hump down the center, so rain sheds to the shoulders instead of standing. The shoulders get pulled back so water can leave the drive, and where runoff comes onto the drive from a hill, a ditch line carries it off. Where the drive crosses a ditch we set a culvert pipe at the ditch bottom and build the drive back over it. Everything gets rolled and packed before we leave, and a surface that has worn thin gets topped back up with fresh material first.
The price comes down to how far the drive has gone and how much water is getting to it. A short drive with a few ruts and a lost crown is a quick regrade. A quarter mile lane that has washed down the middle for years needs the whole surface rebuilt, and that takes more time and more machine. Width matters as much as length, and so does how soft the ground underneath has gotten.
A few other things move the number. A slope needs heavier shoulders and a ditch line to carry water off the drive. Clearing a grown up lane costs more than regrading one that already exists. A ditch crossing adds pipe, and a turnaround or parking pad adds square footage. If the old drive is concrete, breaking it out and pouring a new one is a different job priced its own way. Estimates are free, and you get a real number once we have seen the ground. Call (803) 796-4727.
Ground around here runs from loose Sandhills dirt to heavy red clay, and both give a driveway trouble. Loose ground will not hold a shape, so the edges spread and the middle sinks. Red clay turns slick when it stays wet, and tires cut ruts into it that hold water. Then a summer storm parks over the county and drops rain faster than the ground takes it. Water with nowhere to go cuts a channel straight down the middle of the drive. Long rural drives get the worst of it, since water gathers speed over that much run.
Fixing a rutted drive starts with the high berm between the ruts. That ridge gets cut down and pulled back into the low spots where the material belongs. Then we reshape the crown and pack it back down. Washboard ripples come from the same problem, a surface with no crown left in it. When water runs onto the drive from a hill, a ditch line or a pipe fixes more than any amount of regrading. On a new build we can shape the house pad and grade the yard in the same trip.

Full size CASE excavators, dozers and a tri axle Kenworth dump truck. Machines sized for two story houses, commercial buildings and whole lots. A mini excavator crew cannot do this work.
One contractor takes the structure down, clears the lot, fills the low spots, grades it flat and can finish with a repaired driveway, concrete or a septic system. No handoffs between companies, no waiting on a second crew.
Cleanup is part of the job, on our own trucks. The site gets cleaned as the teardown happens, so when the machines load up and leave, the lot is done.
The shop sits on Edmund Highway, so Columbia, Lexington and Cayce are minutes away. Family and woman owned. Call and you talk to our office, not a call center.

Storm drain repair for apartment complex fixed twice, both required a large excavation. Did both jobs quickly and for a great price. Would highly recommend.
Awesome Company. Contracted them to demolish a double wide on my property. They did it quickly and cleaned up great. Even brought in fill to level the area out. Marked the septic system as required.
Stop looking. Awesome folks to deal with through and through.
